Wardrobe: Summer Time

Summer Time [2013: E R]

Summer Time [2013: E R]

It was 9: 20 a.m. I just woke up from my 12 hours of sleep. I still felt tired and sleepy. I really wanted to go back to sleep as I felt as dead as dodo bird. But I had to go to church to attend 11 a.m Sunday service.

So I opened the curtains, the sun was nearly blinding and I could not see a cloud in the sky.  Geez… what a beautiful day?! I said to myself. I dragged  myself outta the bed, got into shower and got ready for Sunday service.

When I stood in front of my wardrobe, I picked  the red blue checkered summer dress and manon heels for this Sunday service.  I thought that it would be perfect for this beautiful sunny day. Other than that, this is an appropriate outfit for church service.

Honestly, I really like the fact that the dress has a gold plate as a neckline. I  love this dress so much. It is quite classy yet sophisticated.

Few days ago, Naia and I had agreed to spend the weekend together to do some photo shoot for our blog. Well, we are not model and we are not trying to be one. We just love fashion and want to share our fashion sense in our blog. Perhaps, we are trying to be a fashion blogger as it seems to be fun.

Apparently, it was very cloudy when I woke up this morning. I thought that our appointment would be cancelled if it is raining. Fortunately, the sun kept shinning, the cloudy day turned out to be a beautiful sunny day. It was really perfect day to go out and do some outdoor activities with her.

Since I fell in love with crop top, I decided to wear denim bustier crop top and jeans. It is quite edgy yet chic. Unfortunately, dressing up this way made many people look at me strangely as if I am alien. But who cares anyway, I love what I wear.

Wardrobe: Sunday Street Glam

It’s Sunday again and it’s a very beautiful sunny day!

As always, every Sunday I go to St. Theresia church Menteng to attend 11 a.m church service. But today, I am a lil bit confused about what kind of outfit I should wear today because the weather is quite hot outside but I cannot wear something too sexy to the church.

So here I am … finding one of my old little black dress collection and jeans vest from my wardrobe. I have been neglected this little black dress for couple years. If I am not mistaken, I might only wear it couple times since I purchased it. So I tried to mix and match them together. And…. I love it a lot!

It is glamour yet simple  with a little bit touch of street wear.

Ztreet Queen: Abhaya Skirt

I am in my Abhaya Skirt [2013: E R]

I am in my Abhaya Skirt [2013: E R]

I always love traditional textile, be it batik, songket, ikat, sarong or tenun. Unfortunately, I always find it difficult to find a ready wear outfit, which is made from traditional textile, that matches to my taste. Hence I always designed my own outfit.

Well, some people say that there is nothing new under the sun and I would say that my design is not particularly original. But I often put a little detail on my design such as button, zipper or line.

Here it is my latest design, A-line skirt, which is made from orange and green Cambodian silk.  The skirt has no waistline and use invisible zipper on the left side. And I named it  Abhaya skirt, which means fearless skirt.

Somehow, I really like my Abhaya skirt because I can wear it for formal meeting or hanging out with friends. It all depends on what kind of top that I am wearing with.

So what do you think?

Review: Where To Shop in Ubud?

Whenever I go to Ubud, there are two boutiques that I always check out whether they have new collections or not. Those are Gingersnap and We’Ar, which are located in Jalan Hanoman Ubud. I would say that Gingersnap and We’Ar are the best boutique in town because they have unique design with a good quality material with a reasonable price. Gingersnap and We’Ar have collection for women and men

Gingersnap

Let’s shop in Ginger Snap [2012: Oktofani]

Gingersnap opened their store in Jalan Hanoman, Ubud in 2010. Since then, I have purchased some of their collections from a white short, green Turkish pant, a blue polka dot dress, a white turtle neck top and also a grey long Turkish pant with a belt.

I would say that Gingersnap style are very simple yet unique. On the top of that, they have a good material. I do not mind to spend Rp 650,000 (70 USD) for Turkish pants or Rp  350,000 (38 USD) for white tank top because of  the quality.

If you want to see what kind of collection Gingersnap has for you, you can check their blog at http://gingersnaplifestyle.blogspot.com/. However, I must say that Gingersnap does not have a well-managed website where you can see the preview. Yet, I can assure you that Gingersnaps has a wide range of good quality collections with reasonable price. Believe me, you will not regret every cent that you spend in their shop .

Gingersnap has two shops which are located in Jalan Raya Monkey Forest, Ubud, Bali and Jalan Hanoman, Ubud, Bali.

We’Ar

We’Ar It [2012: Oktofani]

I am not a yoga freak, I do not even do any yoga but I love We’Ar collections are yoga wear clothing. We’Ar design are very simple and very colorful.  Their collection is suitable to be worn as a casual outfit. We’Ar make their collection with an organic material which required a good quality maintenance if you want to keep your collection in a good condition. You can just check their collection in their website www.wear.itTheir website is very organized!

If you visit Bali, you can go to We’Ar stores, which are locate in Jalan Hanoman, Ubud, Bali and also Jalan Kayu Aya, Seminyak, Bali. But if you are not visiting Bali and want to get We’Ar collections, you can just go to their online store in their website.

Again… I assure you that We’Ar has a good collection of yoga wear with a reasonable price for a good quality stuff.

We’Ar It Store in Jalan Hanoman, Ubud, Bali, Indonesia [2012: Oktofani]

So, if you plan to come to Ubud, Bali. Don’t forget to visit those two boutique because they have good quality stuff with a good quality material. I can tell you that you will not waste your money for nothing in those couple of shops. It is because as I have lived in Ubud since  2009 and went back and forth between Yogya, Ubud and Jakarta there are so many shops in Jalan Monkey Forest and Jalan Raya Ubud that sells many crap with a bad quality stuff but with a very expensive price.

As a woman, who loves shopping, I don’t regret what I get in those two shop. I am writing this review is not for advertising their shop because I do not get paid from them. I am writing this review because I am just too in love with their collections.

Make sure that you pay the right price for the right quality of stuff! Bali has so many shops that sell good quality stuff with a reasonable price but Bali also has SO MANY SHOPS THAT SELL JUNK with unreasonable tourist price! So be a smart shopper if you are traveling to Bali! Happy shopping!

Rule 44: Stay Young with Different Style

My hairstyle

In the last couple years, I have been changing my hairstyle in an “extreme” way. From  straight hair [not for long time though] to a long curly hair then a short curly hair, like an Afro style. Later, I had 0.5 cm hair cut then I have it colored into blonde [when I did it, it really burn my scalp and the craziest part is I was willing to pay for it MANY TIMES- what was I thinking hu?]. And now, I just had a short hair cut with a skinhead as a combination for it.

Let me share a little bit of  wisdom of life that I learned from Richard Templar, the author of “The Rule of Life”. Ya… I know that  it seems that his book really influence my life a lot and I quoted his book in many of my personal writing. But honestly, his thought really makes sense for me. So, why not?

Mr. Templar wrote in his book Rule 44: Stay Young. Staying young is trying out new tastes, news places to go, new styles. Staying young is about keeping a fresh vision of the world, being interested, being stimulated, being motivated, being adventurous. Staying young is a state of mind.

So in my own point of view, in order to avoid the fear of being old when we get older, why don’t we just make ourselves young by doing something new that we really enjoy and make ourselves good about ourselves. Our life is not about what people think about us, our life is about ourselves. As long as we do not bother or hurt other people with our actions, why don’t we just do it?

In a selfish way, I would say that my life is about myself. As long as I do not bother or hurt other people with my actions, why don’t we just do it? That’s all that matters to me. Won’t life be bored if we stay at the same path all the times? I guess so!

Short hair on my wedding day

Anyway, I would like to share a short story from my wedding day last September. A week before my wedding day, I was approached by several of my family member to wear a fake hair on my wedding day so I would look pretty and elegant. Ha….seriously? Of course I did not agree with that! I confidently rejected the idea many times and I insist to carry my short hair.

I am glad that they could not influence me. Why would I have same style with thousand of brides? I just wanted to be different and unique in my way because it was my wedding day. It is just my swagga! But if they offered me 50,000 USD to do so, then I would do that or consider it! Ha ha.
